AIRBUS A320 LANDING ON FLIGHT FROM PORTO ALEGRE  IN SOUTHERN BRAZIL TO SAO PAULO
IFR Departure from Salgado Filho Intl (SBSP) Destination: Congonhas Intl (SBSP) Runway 17R

The Congonhas runway is 6,365 feet, compared with a 7,003-foot runway
at New York's LaGuardia Airport, which accommodates similar planes, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

IN MEMORY OF THOSE THAT WERE LOST ON FLIGHT 3054

PURPOSE:

After reading about the terrible plane crash of TAM Airlines A320 AIRBUS Flight 3054, I decided to re-create the flight in MS Flight Simulator to see what the pilot was up against.

I did the flight in near perfect weather conditions during daylight so that I could see the airport and the landscape better and appreciate the problems associated with landing at Congonhas Intl.

The pictures are screenshots on final approach to Runway 17R at Congonhas Int Airport:

DISCLAIMER:

I am not an expert nor am I an airline pilot. I am a flight simulator enthusiast / pilot and do a lot of flying in all types of aircraft.

My observations are based on my experiences in flight simulation. They may or may not be accurate accounts of real world scenarios however I am inclined to belive that my experiences are similar to what real world pilots would find to be true...
